Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of MakerLoft. Read them carefully. By using the service you agree to them.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or otherwise using MakerLoft, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What MakerLoft is

MakerLoft is a chat-first app builder. You describe what you want, an AI assistant writes the code, the result is committed to a GitHub repository you own, and the app deploys to a DigitalOcean account you control. We orchestrate the process. We do not host your code or run your finished apps on our infrastructure.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use MakerLoft, and you must be allowed under local law to enter binding agreements. You also need active accounts in good standing with GitHub, DigitalOcean, and any AI provider whose API key you connect.

4. Your accounts

You sign in with GitHub. You are responsible for keeping your GitHub account secure, including any second factor you have enabled there. You are also responsible for any API keys, OAuth tokens, or other credentials you connect to MakerLoft. We encrypt them at rest, but they remain yours and we treat them that way.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use MakerLoft to build, distribute, or operate anything illegal, fraudulent, or harmful. That includes malware, phishing tools, content that infringes the rights of others, and systems designed to attack infrastructure you do not own. You agree not to abuse the third-party services MakerLoft connects to, or to bypass their rate limits or terms. You agree not to attempt to access another user's data, workspace, or credentials. We will terminate accounts that breach these rules.

6. Your code, your repositories, your deployments

Code generated through MakerLoft is committed to your GitHub repository and runs on your DigitalOcean account. You own that code. You are responsible for licensing decisions, for what the code does in production, for any data your deployed app collects from end users, and for compliance with the laws that apply to it. MakerLoft is not the operator of your deployed applications.

7. AI output disclaimer

AI-generated code can be wrong, insecure, or unintentionally similar to third-party material. You are responsible for reviewing what the assistant produces before relying on it in production. The service is provided as is, with no warranty that the output will be fit for any particular purpose.

8. Third-party services & terms

MakerLoft integrates with GitHub, DigitalOcean, Stripe, and the AI providers you choose. Each of those services has its own terms, which apply to your use of them through MakerLoft. We are not responsible for outages, policy changes, or pricing decisions made by those providers.

9. Fees and billing

Paid plans are billed through Stripe. New workspaces include a 3-day trial that begins when the workspace is created; once used, the trial is not available again on a future workspace. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them from your workspace settings. Refunds are at our discretion. AI usage on your supplied API keys is billed by the AI provider directly. We do not mark up or proxy those charges.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, non-payment of fees, abuse of the platform, or behavior that creates legal risk for us or for other users. You can delete your account at any time from Account Settings.

11. Changes to the service

We may add, change, or remove features. Material changes that adversely affect a paid subscription will be communicated by email before they take effect.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

MakerLoft is provided as is and as available. We do not warrant uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation, and we do not warrant that the service will meet your requirements.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to MakerLoft is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms over time. The new effective date will appear at the top of this page. If a change materially affects your rights, we will notify you by email.

15. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to contact@makerloft.com.
